What will it be next...?

So I have this date tonight, and basically I have reached this point in my life where I expect the worst.  I recently (20 min ago) read a blog post by my girl Kaylie, about how she left BYU unscathed, and I am really trying to take the advice she posted to avoid more of these horrific experiences (check it out here: kayliesmart.blogspot.com/2014/02/unscathed.html ). Let me recount just a few of them for you:

1. Kaylie and I moved into a brand new ward.. we were single and ready to mingle!!
Two of the most dashing fellows in our new place asked us to go on a double date! How perfect is that... right?! Think again. They put the reputation of being a, "belmont boy," to shame! First, they texted and told us to come out to the parking lot. Then, they said, "which one of you is driving?" Kaylie, being very gracious, drove us to the bowling alley. Then, they said, "boys against girls, whoever loses buys after." Me and kaylie fought a good battle, we didnt even talk to them (except for when they asked what our favorite swear words were), just tried as hard as we could to get strikes, but still lost, and yes we did pay. When they asked to go again the next week, we replied in unison, "we have homework that night."

2. My cousins best friend Brent wanted to set me up with this boy that was apparently the cream of the crop. Its not that he was a bad guy, it was just... interesting. He said we were just going to have a quick date and get some dessert since it was a blind date. I was thrilled. No one likes a marathon date for the first one! He picked me up at 10:00 pm, we got in the car, and he asked me to navigate to the spot on his map. As i looked at the map my eyes nearly bugged out of my head... 1 HOUR AND 21 MIN up the canyon!? He's for sure taking me there to kill me.

We get there, and he pulls out a kite he wants us to fly. No wind i tell you, the calmest night ever. So he proceeds to have us SPRINT to make this kite fly. After about 2 miles worth of running i go stand by the car. FREEZING might i add. He runs off down the canyon with this kite and i dont see him for a good 10 min. He did come back dragging the kite on the ground though, visibly upset.

We got back in the car, where he lit a candle and pulled out cheerios for our "treat". I ate a few of my favorite childhood sacrament meeting snack, and then said i probably should get back. He asked me to hold the candle for a, "candle-lit drive back home." I laughed, and then i realized he was serious. My laugh quickly turned into a cough so i wouldnt offend.

I skipped the gym the next morning.

3. I went on a second day with this boy named.... Tichael. I wore a very cute outfit, with some great gold flats. He had a telescope and wanted to go to this baseball field to gaze at the stars. He wanted to take the short cut to the field but i explained how i didnt want to walk through that roughage and get pokey's in my shoes. So we took the long way around. Anyways, he couldnt figure out how to set up the telescope, apparently its really hard, so we just sat and talked, it was actually really fun. Then... the sprinklers came on blocking the way we came in. So we had to hike up the mountain through all of the pokey things to get back to the car. I get about 1/4 of the way up when these pokeys start poking THROUGH my shoes and into my feet. I for reals couldnt walk, and i am NOT being dramatic. So he's like, i'll carry you up. That threat instantly gave me the motivation to give it another try walking. I for some reason even tried bare foot thinking that would be more comfortable. I even tried to channel my inner Pocahontas. But as those sharp daggers were going into my foot i knew i had no choice. He tried to make it seem like no big deal, but really, its hard enough to get just yourself up the mountain, now lets put this girl on your back who just ate every last bite of her huge dinner and dessert. Sorry Tichael.

I guess this wasnt a bad date, just embarrassing. Like I said, I expect the worst.

4. This story involves a boy I once dated... lets just call him... Gordon. Anyways, me and Gordon got in a fight, and hadnt talked in a few weeks. Meantime, my little sister has a dance recital! Fun right!? A place I shouldnt have to worry about running into Gordon and his whole family whom i dont know very well at this point. ANYWAYS, as I am sitting waiting for the show to begin... one by one the entire.. lets call them, BOOK famliy starts to trickle in and sit RIGHT in front of me. NATURALLY I start to sweat bullets. My cousin sitting next to me was like, "ash, are you ok?" To which i replied, "i'm fine, FINE!!"... in a high, squeaky, panicked voice! They didn't notice i was sitting behind them yet, but one of the sisters had seen me in the hall earlier. SO, of course Gordon sat DIRECTLY in front of me. The family then began to whisper to each other, "ashlee's here! where is she? i saw her earlier? i wonder where she is sitting? hey gordon ashlee is here!" Little do they know i am listening to every word they are saying with panic on my face.
You see i knew iiiiii could act normal, but i also knew that Gordon may not be as... mature... as I was. After a few awkward minutes of listening in on conversations about me, i mustered up the courage, lifted my hand, and gave Gordon a few taps on the shoulder. He turned around... and i dont think he actually said hi. So naturally i bolted out into the hall with my little cousins after Kitti's dance was over thinking that was a safe place. I went down the hall so i would be away from the main entrance in case they were to spontaneously exit the auditorium. Turns out!! Gordons niece ended about that same time too, and they decided to NOT exit the main door and come out a door right by me. Gordons brother came and got me and said i better come talk to everyone... so i awkwardly walked over and tried to talk and pretend like nothing was out of the ordinary... while Gordon ignored. They noticed. I went home and told my parents, they laughed way too hard, no comfort at all guyysss.

Anyways, they left, and i vowed that i would never attend another dance recital again.

Anyways, we are going to Brian Regan tonight, with his whole family. He has been a gem thus far, no immediate concerns, lets just hope he doesnt make me pay, or i dont step on anything sharp, or he doesnt make me hold a lit candle on the drive home!! Wish me luck!

Lets talk about Kelsi

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY MAIN GIRL KELSI FLYYY!! It was kelsi's bday so we went to dinner at cheesecake, which is alwaysss my favorite! So fun to get together and catch up and laugh with these lovely ladies.
Me and kelsi have been friends since the beginning of time, and let me tell you, she is one of the best there is!!

Kelsi is the mom of the group, she has always taken care of us and is always watching out for us. Kelsi is the last person i would ever worry about not having my back.

Kelsi is the easiest person on the planet to talk to. Seriously i could tell kelsi about anything and everything going on and she is the best listener and makes you feel like what is going on is really important to her.

She is so thoughtful. I remember one time like 4 years ago, i dont even remember what happened, but i was having a rough day and i went home and there were flowers in my room from her! Seriously flipped my day right around!

Kelsi has that million dollar smile and beautiful eyes. We get it already.... SHE'S STUNNING!

She is the funniest. And laughs so easily.

Kelsi always takes time to let people know she loves them and appreciates them. And i love that!

Kels is so crafty. Seriously she is many moons ahead of me in the homemaking department. I will never catch up. She's always quilting, crafting, cooking... she's got it all!!

She is so determined! She is going to be the best nurse in the west in just a few months!

She holds strong to what she believes. She is the best example and i love you forever kels!
